युरेका डोअर्स चे M.D. डॉक्टर प्रमोद सर कायम काहीतरी नवीन गोष्टींच्या शोधात असतात. सरांच्या तालमीत तयार झालेली युरेका डोअर्स ची टीम त्यांनी दिलेल्या दिशेवर कामासाठी सज्ज असते. सध्या Contracting या नव्या दिशेने जाण्यासाठी युरेका डोअर्स ची टीम काम करतेय. गेल्या वीस वर्षांपासून दरवाजे बनवण्याच्या कामात मुरल्यानंतर, अजून एका मोठ्या क्षेत्रात काम सुरू केले.
कॉन्ट्रॅक्ट घेऊन काम करणे तसे खूप आव्हानात्मक. वेगवेगळ्या कंपन्यांची वेगवेगळी मागणी. युरेका डोअर्सची टीम कायम नवीन डोमेन मध्ये काम करतांना येणाऱ्या challenges विषयी आधीच विचार करत कामाची स्ट्रॅटेजी ठरवत असते. Strategy development हा दूरदृष्टीचा खेळ. आपण किती सखोल माहिती मिळवतो, आसपासच्या घडामोडींचे निरीक्षण कसे करतो आणि आपल्या business चे स्टेटस त्या दृष्टीने कसे match करतो याचं ते गणित. त्यात अजूनही अनंत बारकावे असतात.
पण कागदावरची strategy आणि प्रत्यक्ष काम करतांना उभी राहणारी आव्हानं यात अंतर असते. अनेकदा अनुभावी व्यक्ती सुध्दा छोट्या गोष्टींसाठी पेचात पडते.
युरेका डोअर्स मध्ये रोज सकाळी सर्व युरेका मेंबर्स एकत्र येऊन आदल्या दिवशीच्या घडामोडी एकमेकांशी शेअर करतात. त्यात contracting ऍक्टिव्हिटीचे मॅनेजर उत्तम सरांनी सांगितलेला किस्सा वेगळाच आहे.
झाले असे की कॉन्ट्रॅकटिंगची टीम एका मोठ्या कंपनीच्या कामासाठी सज्ज होती. काम फक्त रात्रीच करता येणार होते, कारण दिवसा ऑफिसचा स्टाफ कामासाठी आठच्या सुमारास येणार असल्याने रात्री दहा नंतरच परत कामाची सुरुवात करता येणार होती. काम तसे वेळ घेणारे असल्यामुळे तसेच डेड लाईन मध्ये पूर्ण करायचे असल्याने वेळ आणि प्रत्येक लेबर अवर महत्त्वाचा!
रात्री कामासाठी कामगार मिळवणे हा अवघड आणि मोठा पल्ला गाठला होता. प्रत्यक्ष कामाला सुरुवात झाली.
कामाच्या ठिकाणी shoes घालणे बंधनकारक होते. पहिल्या दिवशी कंपनीच्या security ने हटकले तरीही दुसऱ्या दिवशी चार कामगार shoes न घालता आले त्यामुळे त्यांना कामाच्या ठिकाणी प्रवेश नाकारला गेला.
Contracting activity लीड करणाऱ्या उत्तम सरांना या विषयी कल्पना देण्यात आली. रात्री दहा नंतर बुटांचा जोड कुठे मिळणार हा प्रश्न होता आणि काम लवकर सुरू करणे अत्यावश्यक होते. उत्तम सरांनी त्यांच्या घरातील तीन बुटांचे जोड उचलले आणि ते तडक कामाच्या ठिकाणी पोहोचले. बुटांशीवाय कामगार चार आणि जोड तीन. वेळ रात्री अकरा-बारा ..! तेवढ्यात एक कामगार म्हणाला की बसने येतांना त्याने एका ठिकाणी बुटांचा जोड कुणीतरी फेकून दिलेला पाहिला. कुठे ते काही निश्चित आठवत नव्हते. अजूनही काही मार्ग निघतो का याचा विचार करत बसच्या रूट ने जायचे ठरवून उत्तम सर आणि तो कामगार निघाले. त्यांना एका ठिकाणी तो टाकून दिलेला बुटांचा जोड सापडला. एरव्ही कुणीच असा टाकलेला जोड उचलला नसता पण त्यावेळी तो जोड दैवी वाटला. तो जोड त्या कारागिरला देऊन त्याला कामासाठी पाठवण्यात आले. खरंतर साधीच पण खूप मोठी गोष्ट होती ही! काम वेळेत सुरू झाले आणि तेही एक अगदीच वेगळे दिव्य पार करून.
इच्छा तिथे मार्ग, योगायोग याची प्रचिती तेव्हा आली. अगदीच आऊट ऑफ द ट्रॅक उत्तर होतं हे! त्या छोट्या परीक्षेत, जी तेंव्हा मोठी वाटत होती त्यात यश संपादन झालं होतं!!
